Jewellery Care Policy
At HIBAA we are committed to ensuring that your jewellery remains as beautiful and enduring as the day you purchased it. Proper care and maintenance are essential to preserving the quality, shine, and condition of your jewellery. Please follow the guidelines below to keep your pieces in excellent condition.
1. General Care
- Store jewellery properly: When not in use, store jewellery in a soft, dry place, such as a velvet-lined box or pouch, to avoid scratches and tarnishing.
- Avoid exposure to harsh chemicals: Remove jewellery when using cleaning products, swimming in chlorine-treated pools, or applying perfumes, lotions, and hairsprays. These can damage the metal and stones.
- Remove jewellery during physical activities: To prevent accidental damage, take off rings, bracelets, and necklaces during exercise, housework, and other strenuous activities.
- Clean regularly: Clean jewellery with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove dirt, oils, and residue. For deeper cleaning, follow specific care instructions for each material or take your jewellery to a professional for cleaning.
2. Gold and Silver Care
- Gold jewellery: To prevent gold from tarnishing or becoming scratched, avoid contact with harsh chemicals, including chlorine and bleach. Gold is best cleaned with a mild soap solution and a soft cloth.
- Silver jewellery: Silver may tarnish over time due to exposure to air and moisture. To prevent tarnishing, store silver jewellery in an airtight bag or box. Use a silver polish cloth to clean tarnish, but avoid using silver cleaners that may be too abrasive.
3. Gemstone Care
- Avoid impact: Gemstones are delicate and can crack or chip if exposed to hard impacts. Always remove jewellery with gemstones before engaging in activities like sports or gardening.
- Cleaning gemstones: Clean gemstones with a soft cloth and lukewarm water. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners unless the stone is known to be safe for such treatments (e.g., diamonds). For precious stones like emeralds, opals, or pearls, consult a professional jeweler for care instructions.
- Check settings regularly: Ensure that the gemstones are securely set in their settings. If you notice any loose stones, contact us for an inspection and potential re-setting.
4. Pearl Care
- Store separately: Pearls should be stored in a soft cloth pouch or separate box to prevent scratches.
- Avoid contact with cosmetics: Pearls are sensitive to chemicals, including lotions, perfumes, and hairsprays. Always apply cosmetics before wearing pearls.
- Clean with care: Use a soft, damp cloth to gently wipe your pearls after wearing them to remove oils and dirt. Pearls should not be cleaned with harsh chemicals.
5. Jewellery Maintenance and Repair
- Regular checks: We recommend having your jewellery inspected by a professional jeweler every 6-12 months to ensure settings, clasps, and other components are secure.
- Repairs: If your jewellery becomes damaged, please contact us for repairs. We offer a range of services including resizing, stone replacement, and re-plating.
